I should apologise. I already dealt with screed on the previous page and if you already excavated for your basement it is too late to dig less out if I persuade you on this page not to have floor insulation.
I did make the same point many pages earlier, so I hope you picked up on it there.

For years, building control have insisted that insulation and screed on top of your structural floor slab are absolutely necessary because that is how things are done.
But, actually, 2m of soil that water does not flow through is good insulation.
A buried basement floor is all at least 2m from open air - and insulated.
